Photography commissioned by Atlantic Productions for Discovery:
’Endurance: the hunt for Shackleton’s ice ship (2019)– The History Channel; A&E networks

Atlantic Productions commissioned these photographs to cover the Weddell Sea Expedition in Antarctica 2019.
The purpose of which was to locate Shackleton’s missing ship Endurance, as well as a science programme on the Larson C coast of the Weddell Sea.

We ended up with a full record of this extraordinary expedition, even though we did not ‘find’ the ship, we had a great story of overcoming challenges and trying to do a world first.
When the expedition set out, they didn’t think that they would even get so deep into the pack ice due to the hostility of the environment. Despite actually reaching the last recorded co-ordinates for the Endurance technical issues, and weather halted the nine week expedition. This expedition was the forerunner to the 2022 expedition that successfully found the ship, the same organisers having learned so much from the first expedition.

A lot of excitement and media attention was given to the expedition. These are a few low-res images from the collection.
