The Five Deeps Expedition - A record breaking attempt to go to the deepest point in every ocean

The epic story of Victor Vescovo’s mission to be the first person to go to the deepest point in every ocean has been released on Discovery Plus 5 x 45 mins. Taking you to each ocean, on an expedition that needed firstly a submersible that could achieve that, that was yet to be invented.

I was lucky enough to be part of the documentary team filming with Atlantic Productions just over a year and a half.
The challenges to overcome were huge, which is what makes this such a good story. Victor had to put a lot of resources behind the development of a prototype submersible that would get him too, and back from, the bottom of each trench. It needed to be able to do multiple dives, something never done before with any other deep diving submersible. Triton Submarines who developed and engineered the Triton 36,000/2 had a huge team of experts on the job, but even at sea they were constantly having to think on their feet to problem solve the inevitable problems constantly thrown up with the prototype.
Alongside the diving challenge was an in-depth science and mapping programme.
